Creating a world class engagement strategy

THE CLIENT NEED
A UAE development organisation, responsible for diversifying and transforming its country’s economy, had grown rapidly through developing and managing a wide range of businesses from aerospace to healthcare. Employee engagement had historically been high given its nation-building purpose however changes, including growth beyond ‘family’ size, and the advent of the global economic slowdown meant engagement became a management concern – however there was no team, strategy or process in place.
We were invited to create a new approach to engagement in the business.
THE WORK
Using the organisation strategy as the foundation, we set up a new engagement team, developed a new engagement strategy, and over a period of 3 years created a world-class employee engagement.
We provided the new team support in developing further engagement activity moving from a hands on approach to a more coaching role as the team grew in knowledge and experience. This included delivering a number of engagement enhancing initiatives.
EMBEDDING THE CHANGE
Further development was undertaken in cross organisation knowledge exchange, redevelopment and launch of new values and behaviours, coordination with HR to align systems and processes to improve engagement, creation of comprehensive localised engagement plans within units, set up of wider engagement professional network across their regions, development of leadership and management communication skills, and designed and delivered new format employee and leadership forums
RESULTS
Significant increase in engagement
Employee engagement has increased significantly year on year and the team is one of the most respected in their region for their innovative approaches and great results.
International recognition
The team has won multiple employee engagement awards in the region, as well as the globally recognised Melcrum employee engagement awards
